Spindles, Spools, & Stitches

"Artistic Solutions for Everyday Needs"

Hi my name is Christina "Tina"  Kingsberry

Tina is a 15 year old freshman at William Penn Charter School and the sole proprietor of Spindles, Spools, & Stitches.  For the   past six years she has created Bag Dispensers and Travel Bags.  Thanks to her grandmother she began sewing at the age of nine.  However, "my grandmother told me that  I needed to make something that I could see when I was finished; something that could be used."  So, the first thing she taught me how to make was a Bag Dispenser.  The idea came from my father, not that he suggested it, but because he kept all of his plastic bags stuffed in a drawer in the kitchen and my grandmother wanted a way to help him clean it up.  So that's how it began.  It quickly evolved into a business once family members saw the Bag Dispenser and placed orders.  Before I knew it, I was making Bag Dispensers by the tens.

My father took one to work and the orders exploded.  During 2010, I expanded my inventory by making travel bags and introduced them during craft sales and church bazars. The response was overwhelming and now travel bags are a major portion of my sales.

In closing, I would like to thank my grandmother for teaching me the skill of sewing.  It has allowed me to start my  first business and this skill is like  teaching a man to fish for a lifetime.  Also, I would like to thank all my customers, supporters, and you for visiting my site.
